| ID Code #: PINELLAS Species: Lampropeltis getula Size Price Description: This is the kingsnake of my youth, having grown up in St. Petersburg. This variant of the Florida Kingsnake is much darker and has a lower band count than those from surrounding areas. I suspect it represents relict genetics, isolated on the peninsula which is Pinellas County. It's only ever been known from small portions of Florida's most densely populated (by humans) county, it is now virtually gone from the wild due to habitat disappearance. Hatchlings start out large, with even larger apetites. |
